1 Convertible 1 Story : Peugeot 306

Hello all cab enthusiasts ! We are back with a new story, this one about a Peugeot 306 restored by its owner, Mickael D. Enjoy your reading!

Presentation

“As for me, I’ve been a car enthusiast since I was a kid… I bought my first beetle as soon as I got my driving licence in 1996. Since then, I have always driven old cars: several VW beetles, combi, Pick up transporters, Golf 2, Porsche 911, Peugeot 309… I am not a mechanic at all, but I am very curious and I have learnt a lot from my acquisitions.

By dint of breaking down, dismantling, exploring, trying, reassembling, replacing, the experience has grown with the passion of restoration. Today I almost enjoy spending more time under a car than in it!
A bit like the TV shows I follow assiduously, I love to find a second-hand car that no one wants and give it a new lease of life, and see the thumbs up at every exit…

Besides, you can never go for a ride without the right playlist, in the car radio with cassette, or CD, or smartphone…

Story

I do a lot of barnstorming, restorations, and I change frames quite regularly…

In 2019, I got tired of my Golf 2, fully restored, I put an ad asking exclusively for an exchange for a restored convertible.

I was offered this 306 cabriolet Roland Garros phase 1 in a bad state: the rear wing was broken and badly repaired, someone had climbed on the bonnet by leaning on the front wing, the soft top, torn, did not close entirely, a spoiler was fixed on the trunk, the original rims were missing, it did not even pass the technical control because of several minor defects…

I validated the exchange, made the main repairs to get the technical control and a car registration.

I then started the complete refurbishment.

RENOVATION

I spent a lot of time on forums and on « leboncoin » to find the missing parts, some of them almost impossible to find, I completely disassembled it to take it on a tray to the body shop (to save time and money).

He did a great job of restoring it to its former glory!
I also reassembled it myself, and put the specific stickers on.

Even if it doesn’t match the original, I made the choice to tint the fog lights yellow and put its black plates, I think it’s beautiful.

Finally, I have replaced the soft top, and will soon have the saddlery redone.

I am most proud of the fact that I have only used local people, each one a specialist in his or her field, using their address book…

Now I take full advantage of it and accessorise it

I forgot to mention that I had an extremely hard time finding green floor mats to install in my Roland Garros, and I found them at… Le comptoir du cabriolet !

Persons involved
